Abstract
Nutraceuticals products have many health benefits other than nutrition.
Nutraceuticals are food or food products that provide both nutrition and
health benefits and used in treatment or prevention of many diseases.
Nowadays nutraceuticals are in prominent interest of all countries owing to
their prospective nutritional, safety, therapeutic effects. The present review
focuses on some plants that have multiple therapeutic effects but are
underutilized or barely used. Plants food and their other parts could be an
important source of functional food ingredients and health booster compounds
with high nutraceutical value. These underutilized plants can prevent many
chronic diseases. The given nutraceuticals such as Black plum (Jamun),
Jackfruit, Millet have many physiological benefits but are underutilized. Many
studies have been done on the nutritional properties of these plant and many
articles on the use of the various parts of these plants for their therapeutic
effects were found. The comprehensive study is done to highlight their
nutritional, health benefits to promote their utilization.
