Abstract: Sangubanyu sub-vilage is administratively located in Banyuwangi Village, Bandongan Subdistrict,
Magelang Regency. During the dry season, it is common to find dry wells in the community, making it
difficult for residents to access clean water. This situation is highly ironic, as Magelang Regency generally
experiences high rainfall, is situated in the Progo and Bogowonto river basins, and is surrounded by
mountains that, theoretically, act as water catchment areas. The investigation of aquifer depth was conducted
using the Vertical Electrical Sounding (VES) method with a Schlumberger electrode configuration, which is
used to map the vertical distribution of subsurface resistivity. VES field data collection was carried out at two
measurement points using two current electrodes and two potential electrodes. The electrode spread at each
measurement point was 400 meters. The sounding data from each measurement point was interpreted using
IP2win software version 3.01, and the results were presented as resistivity logs showing resistivity values,
depths, and the thickness of each layer. The interpretation results yielded a 1D resistivity model, showing
variations in resistivity with depth. The aquifer layer was identified as sandy tuff with resistivity values
ranging from 17 Ωm to 21 Ωm at depths of approximately 33 to 78 meters.

I. INTRODUCTION
Sangubanyu sub-village is administratively located in Banyuwangi Village, Bandongan Subdistrict,
Magelang Regency. The area covers 4,038 km² and had a population of 63,273 in 2023. Situated at an elevation
of approximately 350 meters above sea level, it lies at the eastern foot of Mount Sumbing.
The Sangubanyu area has good groundwater potential, especially in alluvial zones or high-porosity
pyroclastic deposits. Based on the Geological Map of the Magelang Sheet, Bandongan, Banyuwangi Village
belongs to the Young Mount Sumbing Deposits Formation (Qsm), consisting of volcanic sandstone, sandy tuff,
and andesitic breccia. [1] The main challenge faced by residents in Sangubanyu is the drying of wells during the
dry season, causing difficulty in accessing clean water. During this period, residents rely on water supplies from
Local water company, which are often insufficient
The resistivity survey technique is used to solve many problems related to groundwater assessment,
investigation and exploration. Some uses of this method in groundwater are; determination of the thickness,
boundary and depth of different layers of an aquifer [2],[3],[4]. To ensure that the rock layers contain water,
measurements are made using the resistivity method where the aquifers layer can be determined based on the
rock resistivity value. Vertical Electrical Sounding method with Schlumberger array assumes considerable
importance in the field of ground water exploration because this method is regularly used to solve a wide variety
of groundwater problems. Such as determination of depth, thickness and boundary of a aquifer.
