The experiences of Ibibio women which are constructed by patriarchal culture and colonial disruptions seem to prop a passive attitude among women. Gender relations have favioured the men and active participation in the public sphere or community developmental strides are largely seen as men’s affairs. This suppression of the strength of Ibibio women has impact negatively on development in Ibibio land. The paper adopts descriptive research design and draws data from interviews, participant observation and extant literature. The result shows that Ibibio women contribute to the development of their communities in areas such as social, political, economic, religious and educational development though with obstacles and challenges. Women of Ibibio has proven that they possess the quality, talents and character traits required not only for growth and development of Ibibio land but for the enhancement of the progress and well-being of the human society. The study recommends among others since financial problem poses a challenge to Ibibio women, government should provide them with financial aid to facilitate their efforts in community development. Women being regarded as fragile and should be subordinate to the man but they can play important role for the betterment of the society. This fragile nature has proved her taking domineering influence on many occasions in the history of mankind. Across the country, women have created innovative, comprehensive programs to meet the needs of their communities. Women have established themselves as leaders in the community development process and acquire the skills that have brought positive changes to their communities
