This study aims to determine the teacher strategy in teaching students count in class 1 Elementary School 17 Labai. The method in this study use qualitaative research with a case study approach. The subjects in this study were grade 1 elementary school teachers. The object of this research is the teacher strategy in teaching students to count in class 1. Data coolection techniques using observation, interviews and documentation. The validity of the data using triangulation techniques. The result showed that the teacher`s strategy in teaching student to count in class 1 elementary school 17 Labai Is a direct learning strategy in which the teacher use a strategy by helping student learn basic skill and acquire knowledge step by step. Individual learning strategy, namely the teacher manages learning activities in large groups of students by arranging in such a way that the student get more attention. The group learning strategy is the teacher presents the lesson material by means of students discussing, the lesson in the groups, exchanging opinions on the topics/problems to get a conclusions and illustrations from the abstract to the concrete. Deduvtive learning strategies, namely learning strategies carried out by studying concepts, then looking for conclusions and illustrations from the abstract to the concrete. The conclusions of this study is that the teacher class 1 students to count using direct learning strategies, individual learning, group learning and deductive learning. Keywords: Learning Strategy, Learning, Counting Abstrak: Penelitian dilatar belakangi kesulitan siswa kelas 1 Sekolah Dasar dalam pembelajaran berhitung. Penelitian bertujuan mengetahui strategi guru dalam membelajarkan siswa berhitung di kelas 1 SD Negeri 17 Labai. Metode penelitian menggunakan penelitian kualitatif dengan pendekatan studi kasus. Subjek dalam penelitian yaitu guru kelas sekolah dasar. Objek penelitian ini stategi guru dalam membelajarkan siswa berhitung di kelas 1. Teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan observasi, wawancara dan dokumentasi. Keabasahan data menggunakan triangulasi teknik. Hasil penelitian diperoleh bahwa stategi guru dalam membelajarkan siswa berhitung di kelas 1 SD Negeri 17 Labai adalah strategi pembelajaran langsung yaitu guru menggunakan strategi dengan membantu siswa mempelajari keterampilan dasar dan memperoleh pengetahuan langkah demi langkah. Strategi pembelajaran individual yaitu guru mengelola kegiatan belajar mengajar dalam kelompok siswa yang besar dengan mengatur sedemikian rupa sehingga siswa memperoleh perhatian lebih banyak. Strategi belajar kelompok yaitu guru menyajikan bahan pelajaran dengan cara siswa membahas pelajaran secara berkelompok, bertukar pendapat mengenai topik/masalah untuk memperoleh suatu kesimpulan.
