The practice of usury has existed long before the Jahiliyah era and it still occurs today The legal basis for the prohibition of usury is explicitly and clearly described in QS. Al-Baqarah/2: 275-276. The purpose of this study is to determine the form of the prohibition of usury as described in the Qur’an and its implications for the community’s economy. This research uses library research as a method to analyze various relevant data with the approach of tafsir and legal science. The results show that the prohibition of usury goes through several long legal stages until it is determined as a forbidden act. Usury, bank interest and buying and selling each have their own meaning and cannot be equated. Allah will forgive the sin of the usurer as long as he truly repents and leaves the act. Usury has implications for various sectors of human life, especially in the economic sector such as not increasing wealth, economic inequality, a form of family economic colonization, disconnection of the productive economic sector and the emergence of inflation. Advice for every Muslim to try to avoid every act that can lead to usury behavior and believe that Allah’s condemnation of usury perpetrators must be fulfilled on the day of retribution. Keywords: Usury, Implications, Economics, al-Baqarah 275-276 ABSTRAK Riba merupakan perbincangan krusial dalam kajian ekonomi syariah. Praktik riba telah ada jauh sebelum zaman Jahiliyah hingga masih terjadi sampai saat ini. Landasan hukum diharamkannya riba secara tegas dan jelas telah dipaparkan dalam QS. al-Baqarah/2: 275-276. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengetahui bentuk keharaman riba sebagaimana yang dijelaskan dalam al-Qur’an dan implikasinya terhadap perekonomian masyarakat. Penelitian ini menggunakan penelitian library research sebagai metode untuk menganalisis berbagai data yang relevan dengan pendekatan ilmu tafsir dan hukum. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pengharaman riba melalui beberapa tahapan hukum yang panjang hingga ditetapkannya sebagai perbuatan yang haram. Riba, bunga bank dan jual beli masing-masing memiliki makna sendiri dan tidak dapat disamakan. Allah akan mengampuni dosa pelaku riba selama ia benar-benar bertaubat dan meninggalkan perbuatan tersebut. Riba berimplikasi pada berbagai sektor kehidupan manusia terlebih pada sektor ekonomi seperti tidak bertambahnya harta, terjadi kesenjangan ekonomi,
