It is amusing to skim through memes, pictures and life updates from acquaintances they met along the journey, but they fail to notice how social media affects the way they act and think. A total of 425 survey questionnaires were distributed among undergraduates and the Statistical Package for the Social Sciences software was used to analyze the study data, which were collected using a quantitative technique. The findings reveal that there is a negative aspect of social media that appeals to students because it provides a fresh setting to make friends and is a terrific way to release stress. It affects students’ academics to a certain level. This research implies that a method for balancing social media and academic learning is necessary.
