ABSTRACT
Developing collaboration and communication dynamics, alongside promotional strategies, allows
librarians to keep libraries relevant, accessible, and impactful in their communities. This descriptive-
correlational study explored the influence of librarians' collaboration, communication dynamics, and
promotional strategies on students’ intentions to utilize library services. It involved 100 3rd- and 4th-
year students selected through random sampling from five sections of the Access Services Division at a
state university in Marawi City. Data were gathered via a structured questionnaire using the 5-Likert
scale and analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics. The findings revealed that librarians’
collaboration and communication dynamics were rated high, while promotional strategies were rated
as moderate. The results show that librarians’ collaboration and communication dynamics and
promotional strategies significantly influence students’ library utilization intentions. The study
highlights the need for librarians to enhance their engagement and promotional approaches while
refining key skills to foster an academically supportive library environment. Enhanced librarian-
student collaboration and targeted promotional activities can significantly contribute to improving
library utilization and supporting academic success.

1. INTRODUCTION
In the rapidly evolving landscape of higher
education, collaboration, and communication
among librarians play an essential role in shaping
students’ engagement with the library and its
resources. Kinoti and Otike (2022) highlight the
potential of libraries as community knowledge
hubs, emphasizing the need for collaboration to
enhance service relevance. Despite research on
individual factors, there’s a gap in understanding
how librarians’ collaboration, communication
dynamics, and promotional strategies together
influence students’ library usage intentions, which
this study aims to address.
2. THEORETICAL/CONCEPTUAL FRAMEWORK
This study assumes that the librarians’
collaboration, communication dynamics, and
promotional strategies reflect students'
anticipated and planned behaviors regarding how
they will engage with and benefit from the
library’s offerings. The following theories support
the study’s underlying assumptions.
Theory of Planned Behavior (Ajzen, 1991). The
Theory of Planned Behavior explains that
individuals’ intentions are influenced by
behavioral, normative, and control beliefs. In this
context, librarians’ collaboration and
communication dynamics, alongside promotional
strategies, shape students' attitudes toward
library use. Positive perceptions of these practices
can boost engagement, while social pressures and
confidence in library resources further impact
students’ intentions. By addressing these
psychological drivers through tailored strategies,
libraries can enhance student engagement,
making the library a more accessible and
supportive resource for academic success.
Diffusion of Innovations Theory (Rogers, 2003).
The Diffusion of Innovations Theory focuses on
how new ideas spread through society, with
individuals categorized as innovators, early
adopters, early majority, and laggards. In the
library context, collaboration and technology
integration among librarians play key roles in
fostering the adoption of new services.
