University of Baroda, Vadodara (Gujarat) Introduction In the age of ubiquitous smartphones and constant connectivity, social media has become an integrated part of childhood. While these platforms offer opportunities for connection and self-expression, concerns are rising regarding their potential impact on children's behaviour. This chapter explores the role of social media in fostering aggression and impulsivity among children, drawing upon relevant research. It could be observed that exposure to violent content online, often readily accessible on social media, can desensitize children to violence and increase the likelihood of viewing it as a conlict resolution strategy (Anderson & Bushman, 2002). Furthermore, the curated perfection prevalent on social media can lead to feelings of inadequacy and social exclusion, potentially manifesting as online or ofline aggression due to social comparison (Przybylski et al., 2013).
