To address these issues, the integration of public transportation is crucial. This integration aims not only to improve mobility efficiency but also to support the city’s sustainability and reduce dependency on private vehicles, which contribute to traffic congestion and air pollution. This research employs a literature review method to examine the importance of public transportation integration in Surakarta, considering various perspectives, including infrastructure, policies, and the government's role in transportation management. The analysis reveals that although the government has made efforts to improve the transportation system, such as developing a Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) system, the integration between different modes of transportation is still suboptimal. The main challenges include a lack of coordination among stakeholders, limited supporting infrastructure, and low public awareness of the benefits of public transportation. Therefore, a well-integrated system involving multiple transport modes, such as buses, minibusses, and online-based transportation, is essential to create a more efficient, environmentally friendly transportation system that can meet the needs of the growing urban population. The study also emphasizes the need for cross-sector collaboration, involving local and central governments as well as the private sector, to support the development of an integrated transportation system. With proper transportation integration, Surakarta can minimize the negative impacts of urbanization and create more inclusive and sustainable mobility for all its citizens.
