Cost., 54(2):171-175 RESUMEN Se documenta por primera vez la presencia de la vaca enmascarada Hypoplecturs providencianus en los arrecifes franjeantes del área de Santa Marta y el Parque Nacional Natutal Tayrona (Caribe continental colombiano). Con base en varios avistamientos y fotografías tomadas entre 2005 y 2023, la distribución geográfica conocida de la vaca enmascarada se extiende dentro del Gran Caribe, de la provincia central a la provincia sur, específicamente en la costa noroccidental de América del Sur. Palabras clave: Primer registro, distribución geográfica, Hypoplecturs providencianus, peces errantes ABSTRACT The presence of the masked hamlet Hypoplectrus providencianus is documented for the first time in fringing reefs of the Santa Marta area and Tayrona National Natural Park (Colombian continental Caribbean). Based on several sightings and photographic records taken between 2005 and 2023, the known geographic distribution of the masked hamlet has extended within the Greater Caribbean from the Central Province to the Southern Province, specifically on the coast of northwestern South America.
