ISSUES AFFECTING A BOY CHILD GLOBALLY BY ESHIET, INYENEABASI EBONG A boy child could simply be defined as a male infant growing into a young boy. There are many issues which have exacerbated to the plight of a boy child. Equally of concern as regards to this is the prevalence given to a girl child which has led to the negligence of the issues affecng a boy child and causing them to be vulnerable to an unforeseen future. The popular misconcepon that when you educate a girl you educate an enre society to imply that the same is not true of educang the boy child, this is misleading fact has led to the decline of a parcipaon of a boy child in educaon. Quite oſten, the boy child is forced into child labor which results to intense stress and hence, leads to their dropping out of school. The lack of access to quality educaon is increasingly seen to constrain boy child ability to securely acquire knowledge. These co-factors combine to the plight of a boy child. The boy child is always accused of being a rapist. In contrast, he may be a vicm of rape and he prefers to keep it silent aſter several aempts of trying to speak out. A boy child looks stronger and confident on the outside, but are not so on inside thus cognive discordance. This is because a boy child is regularly taught how to be brave and rather not to display their weaknesses in the public. The boy child ends up crying in silence, suffering from depression and prefers not to speak because of the misconcepon of being bravery . Addionally, They have been several campaigns has focused solely on girls, meanwhile the boy child has been neglected. Many scholarships, Job opportunity, promo, just a few to menon, always pays priority to the female child, which has created a connuity opportunity for the female child and neglecng to breach the gender gaps. There is a general misconcepon that boys do not have paence, this makes boys to be less defensive and reduces their tolerance level. This makes a boy child to be monitored always; hence reducing his fun me with peers. It is difficult, when faced with such a large problem, to see what effect you as an individual can do but every cizen has an important role to play. Personally, I will volunteer to join this Non-Governmental Organizaon (N.G.O) in creang awareness and disseminang informaon pertaining to issues affecng a boy child globally. The government should provide adequate educaonal resources to grant access to quality educaon. These can be achieved through guidance and the educaon of the boy-Child who is the father of tomorrow. Parents should be sensized on the importance of a boy child in the society. Collecvely, We must start discussing and idenfying measures to address the plight of a boy child and put resources and efforts to deal with these challenges effecvely.
