People join these organizations and constitute themselves as the workforce that will contribute their own quota towards the attainment of organizational goals. As workers get adapted to their organization, they begin to notice that the management attitude towards them is not evenly distributed. They soon realize that some categories of workers are more preferred to others. It is This paper examined how discriminatory practices in the work place affect the performance of workers. The population of the workforce is on the increase and more people from different ethnic groups, gender, age, religion and so on are joining organizations. Many employers tend to put up some form of stereo type against a certain group of employees in the workplace. Such prejudice and bias tend to deny workers of certain benefits in the organization. The consequences are often perceived workers’ alienation, low workers’ engagement and motivation, physical and mental problems as well as poor performance in the work place. Finally, it discussed some ways of dealing with inferiority complex resulting from work place discrimination at the government, organization and individual level. It recommends that organizations will achieve better man power utilization if organizational policies are anchored on equal opportunities for employees, and diversity management programs. Surface level diversity should be made to give way for the understanding of differences and shared organization culture. The government also have their roles to play in ensuring that equal opportunity and affirmative actions’ policies are effectively implemented.
