Moisés Antiqueira RESUMO O artigo pretende levantar questões a respeito da historicidade do chamado edito de Galieno, cuja existência foi atestada apenas por Aurélio Vítor, historiador latino do século IV. Para tanto, serão consideradas as alterações que Galieno promoveu no exército romano, bem como alguns dados epigráficos que lançam luz sobre a composição social dos comandantes militares romanos nos meados do século III. ABSTRACT This paper aims to discuss some questions regarding the historicity of the so-called edict of Gallienus, whose existence was attested only by Aurelius Victor, a fourth-century Latin historian. To this end, it will be taken into consideration those changes Gallienus undertook in the Roman army, as well as some epigraphic data that shed light on the social milieu of the Roman military commanders in the middle of the third century.
