Journalism and framing: a socio-cognitive approach João Carlos Correia Universidade da Beira Interior Author Biography: João Carlos Correia is Professor in Communication Arts Department of University of Beira Interior, Portugal. He has done his Post - Doctoral Studies in the University Pompeu Fabra (2008; Barcelona) and its habilitation in Communication Sciences in University of Beira Interior (2009). He is also Director of the Scientific Journal “Communication Studies” and Chair of Working Group of Political Communication of the Portuguese Society of Communication. He wrote several books published in Portugal and Brazil on subjects such as Journalism Studies; Media, Public Sphere and Deliberation;Communication and Citizenship: “Teoria e Crítica do Discurso Noticioso” (Covilhã, Labcom Press, 2009); Comunicação e Sociedade: Estudos sobre Jornalismo e Identidades (Covilhã, UBI, 2005), “A Teoria da Comunicação de Alfred Schutz” (Lisboa, Livros Horizonte, 2005), “Comunicação e Cidadania: os media e a fragmentação do Espaço Público” (Lisboa, Livros Horizonte, 2004), “Jornalismo e Espaço Público” (Covilhã, UBI, 1998). He was journalist for twelve years and is a professor and researcher since 1995. .
