Energy production and consumption from fossil fuels has central role to climate change, but also to sustainability in general. Because climate change is regionally driven with global consequences and is a result of economic imperatives and social values, it requires a redefinition as to the balance of these outcomes globally and regionally in Kosovo. Firstly the impact of renewable energy in CO 2 reduction on global level is modelled and it is shown that increasing the Earth surface temperature would stop if the CO 2 reduction the next 50 years would be 80% due to renewable use and new technologies. The initial time value for this model is taken year 2005. Then, the modelling is carried out regionally for Kosovo for two dynamical systems which are the main emitters of CO 2 transportation and electricity generation emissions systems. The initial time value for these models is taken year 2000. Implementing the emission reduction policies and introducing new technologies in transportation and in electrical power production in Kosovo for the total emission of CO 2 we will have reduction for about 20% (4.75 Mt CO 2 ) in 2025 in comparison with (5.99 Mt CO 2 ) in year 2006. Various energy scenarios of the future are shown. We demonstrate that a transition to environmentally compatible sustainable energy use in Kosovo is possible. The main aim of this paper is to specify and analyze a set of possible circumstances that is consistent with a sustainable path of future development of Kosovo. * Corresponding author
