The program is based on the principles of authentic e- Learning as described by Herrington, Reeves & Oliver (2010). These have been used, together with social technologies, to create a certificate program for teaching in higher education. The objective of the program is to equip teaching faculty for the challenges they are facing in the evolving knowledge society working environment. The program was conceived and developed by Tampere University of Applied Sciences (TAMK) in Finland and has now been adapted to train faculty in the Higher Colleges of Technology in the United Arab Emirates.
