A TALE OF TWO ASSEMBLAGES: Thursday 18 th April 2013 – 7.00pm Dr Emma Baysal - BIAA Neolithic beads from the sites of Pınarbaşı and Boncuklu Höyük Beads are a means of personal and social expression, an indicator of manufacturing prac5ces and a key feature of the material culture of the Neolithic period. This lecture explores the opportuni5es that beads offer us for understanding how two early Neolithic se?lements in the Konya Plain defined themselves in rela5on to the world around them. Local tradi5ons, long‐distance imports and the choices that different communi5es made are considered alongside the manufacture and use of Neolithic jewellery.
