BELAJAR TENTANG NILAI-NILAI PLURALISME ISLAM JENDERAL CHENG HO MELALUI SINKRETISMED ABANGAN, ISLAM, TAOISME, DAN BUDHA DI KLENTENG SAN PO KONG Dian Maya Safitri ABSTRACT This paper attempts to describe the tolerance among various religious rituals and groups in Sam Po Kong temple in Semarang. This kind of religious harmony is the reflection of General Cheng Ho’s pacifist and pluralist characteristic to non- Muslims, particularly the Chinese. This phenomenon is well-suited with Geertz’s dictum : religion is the model of and for reality. Next, through fieldwork research and anthropological approach, I figured out that there exists syncretism of Javanese abangan, Islam, Taoism, and Buddhism. By using Geertz and Durkheim’s functionalist theories, I will classify religious communities in Sam Po Kong temple into three groups that worship different transcendent. The beginning of this paper will depict the historical adventure of Cheng Ho, as the principal figure in this Sam Po Kong shrine. The next part explains the Geertz and Durkheim theories as the bases for this paper’s analysis. The third part accounts the instances of Javanese abangan, Islamic, Tao, and Buddhist influences existing in this pantheon. The remainder of this paper will argue that Indonesian muslims, who are considered as the largest Muslim community in the Islamic world, should learn the values of tolerance and pluralism through Cheng Ho’s wisdom in order to eliminate the concept of “religious Other” . Key words: syncretism, Sam Po Kong temple, General Cheng Ho, pluralism ABSTRAK Makalah ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan tentang sikap toleran di antara bermacam-macam ritual dan kelompok agama di Klenteng Sam Po Kong di Semarang. Harmoni keagamaan seperti ini merupakan cerminan dari karakter Jendral Cheng Ho yang pluralis dan cinta damai terhadap non Muslim, terutama orang Cina. Fenomena semacam ini sesuai dengan pendapat Geertz bahwa agama merupakan model dari dan untuk realitas. Melalui penelitian lapangan dan pendekatan antropologi, saya menemukan bahwa ada sinkretisme antara abangan, Islam, Tao, dan Budha. Dengan menggunakan teori Geertz dan  Mahasiswa Pascasarjana UGM, jurusan Lintas Agama dan Budaya
