Competition to gain access to political and economic resources is unavoidable. I ndegenous people can hardly compete with the migrants in getting access to economic resources which resulted in the marginalisation of this group. Political economic spaces such as market, bureaucracy and investment from multinational companies shows clearly the displacement of the indegenous people. A clear portrait of their displacement is reflected in how the indegenous women in Papua struggle to get access to the market to sell their products. At Sanggeng market in Manokwari, W est Papua for example, Papuan women spread their agricultural products on the ground, while three-storey building with kiosks in it is occupied by migrant traders. Meanwhile in Jayapura, local women have to compete with multinational company - Gelael Supermarket. This article discusses how political economic spaces including markets and new municipalities and districts turn into stages for local and global power battle and flare ethnic seggregation in Papua for economic benefits.
