1 Kepercayan “Kenan” Dalam Masyarakat Melayu-Islam: Kajian Dari Perspektif Islam Mohd Anuar Ramli Syamsul Azizul Marinsah  ABSTRACT Every society has its own beliefs and taboos which control their members implicitly. It was existed as a result from long way of interactions between man and natures. Taboos is one of oral tradition which practiced mostly in Malay-traditional society. In Malay society, there are several list of taboos. One of that taboos is kenan that are closely related with pregnant women taboos. Basically, Kenan is part of the process of cause and consequence, which is consider as incident whether an illness or disability suffered by newborn baby due to violation of taboo by parent when baby still in mother womb. The origin of Kenan idea’s derived from the way of society intend to preserve the relationship between man and nature, but eventually this prevention has misunderstood by late generation with lateral interpretation until it’s known as taboos as well as superstitious among Malay-Muslim. Therefore this study attempts to scrutinize the conceptual of kenan and related discussion in Islamic perspective and also medicine views on that issue. The findings show that this taboo regard as shirk. Consequently this belief prohibited for Malay-Muslim to practice in their daily life. Keywords: Taboo, Kenan, Malay, Superstitious, Medicine PENGENALAN Masyarakat Melayu terkenal dengan bangsa yang mempunyai banyak pantang larang dan peraturan yang tersendiri. Ia diwarisi secara turun-temurun, dari satu generasi kepada generasi yang lain. Kadang kala larangan dan suruhan tersebut, tiada asas yang kukuh dari syariat Islam, ada yang bersifat rasional dan yang tidak masuk akal. Kepelbagaian pantang larang ini pada dasarnya untuk menjamin keharmonian hidup bermasyarakat dan ia dijadikan sebagai aturan untuk mengelak musibah dan menghalang sesuatu yang tidak baik dari berlaku. Niat murni ini adalah sesuatu yang baik tetapi amalan yang menjadi pantang larang tersebut memerlukan penelitian dari perspektif hukum Islam. Ini kerana di samping mendatangkan kemaslahatan ke atas masyarakat, amalan tersebut sewajarnya selari dengan ketetapan syariat Islam.
