Baltic J. Coleopterol. 6 (1) 2006 ISSN 1407 - 8619 INTRODUCTION The fauna of genus Notiophilus Dumeril, 1804 (Coleoptera: Carabidae) in Asia is not completely investigated. Up to now 56 species were known in the world’s fauna but in Asian fauna – 41 spe- cies of this genus (Bousquet, Barševskis 2003, Barševskis 2003, 2004, 2005, Lorenz 2005). Of late years from Asia several new taxa have been de- scribed (Barševskis 2001, 2003, 2004, 2005, Schmidt, Hartman 2001). The taxonomic status of several earlier described species is still un- clear which later after the description were not found. About Notiophilus solodovnikovi Barševskis, 2001 and Notiophilus bodemeyeri Roubal, 1916 (Coleoptera: Carabidae) taxonomic status Arvīds Barševskis Barševskis A. 2006. About Notiophilus solodovnikovi Barševskis, 2001 and Notiophilus bodemeyeri Roubal, 1916 (Coleoptera: Carabidae) taxonomic status Baltic J. Coleopterol., 6 (1): 65 – 68. Having analyzed the material of species’ types and the description of species the taxonomic status of two taxa of Notiophilus Dum. genus has been changed in this paper. It is proved that N. solodovnikovi Barševskis, 2001 is the junior synonym of N. semistriatus LeConte, 1857, but N. bodemeyeri Roubal, 1916 is the junior synonym of N. aquaticus (Linnaeus, 1758). Earlier both species were considered little known because after the description they were not found any more. Hence the total number of species in world’s and Asian fauna has diminished for two.
