It is an attractle plant with entire leaves and can grow up to 1 m in height. It produces strange whisker-like bracts below the flowers that hang down for as long as 30 cm. The flower is blackish violet while the fruit is green to black. This plant grows well in moist and shady areas. Keladi murai is widespread and occurs in humid primary as well as in secondary forests in lowland areas and is rarely found in montane forests up to 2,100 m. A decoction of the rhizomes is traditionally used as an aphrodisiac for men and to treat irregular menses in women. The pulped rhizomes are used to treat skin rashes caused by insects, wounds, swellings, sores, snakebites, rheumatism and stomach upset. Decoction made from the whole plant is used to treat diabetes, high blood pressure, hemorrhoids and kidney problems. Keladi muraiflower : ; ; I Keladi murai young flover
