It is conducted in Yogyakarta city. This research used qualitative method. Research found that subjects pointed about several items that should be a-must in open public space facilities. There are several disadvantages for open public spaces in Yogyakarta. Neverthless, the crowded has become one of attractive points. The existence of open public space become more important for city because people are able to find any attractive point there. Keyword: city, open public space, solution 1. Introduction Yogyakarta has many tourism sites, such as natural, historical, shopping sites and hang out places for youngs. Several tourism sites in Yogyakarta city are being used for public and have open characteristic which have fully public access. Therefore, it is called open public space. Most famous two are Malioboro and South Yogyakarta Town Square. It is predicted that tourists in Yogyakarta city will always be increased. Data statistical survey said that 3,2 million tourists visit Yogyakarta regularly per year [1]. Domestical tourists quantity are much more than than foreign tourists [1]. The city is visited by a lot of youngs around Indonesia because it has many high quality of schools and universities [2]. Nowadyas, the city gets much more crowded. This research aimed two purposes. First, to investigate whether open public space in Yogyakaras have already enough or not, to facilitate society. Second, to gather people opinion about open public space of Yogyakarta. 2. Methods This research used qualitative method, by structured-interview to seven people that hanged-out in Malioboro and in South Yogyakarta Town Square as two most famous open public space visited in Yogyakarta. Subjects’ characteristics are age for more than 25 years old and have been or being in college. Interview was recorded, transcrypted, coded, and categorized based on themes which came up. It’s called thematic coding as analyze method. 3. Results Data contains two aspects about open public space in Yogyakarta. The positive aspects reveal what kind of facilities that people need. Negative aspects reveal the conditions people is not satisfied there.
