Abstract: This paper presents epigraphic monuments and reliefs that can be related to the cult of the so-called forest deities in the Central Balkan area. It discusses inscriptions that stress Silvanus’s epithet silvestris, considered independently or with Diana and nymphs, as deities whose names follow from the etymology of the Latin word silva (Silvana and silvanae). Pictorial characteristics of this cult community are recorded on some reliefs whose iconographic analysis shows possibility that those were autochthonous images. The purpose of this paper is to show how certain functional and iconographic aspects of this cult indicate that Romanized form of Silvanus and Diana, represents younger version of epichoric deities couple as protectors of forest and nature, which in pre-roman period dominated in area discussed here. Апстракт: Рад је посвећен епиграфским споменицима и рељефним представама из култа тзв. шумских божанстава на територији централног Балкана. У питању су натписи са Силвановим епитетом silvestris, било да је реч о самосталним деди- кацијама или посветама у којима се јавља заједно са Дијаном и нимфама, односно са именима изведеним из етимологије речи silva (шума). Карактеристике помену- тог култа присутне су и на рељефима са приказом ових божанстава, чија иконог- рафска анализа упућује на претпоставку да се радило о аутохтоним представама. Циљ аутора био је да покаже на који начин наведени епитет, као и поједини ликов- ни детаљи наглашавају одговарајући култни аспект, указујући на могућност да је романизована форма заједнице Силвана и Дијане била млађа варијанта епихорског пара заштитника шуме и целокупне природе.
