Abstract Information and Communication Technology has become a significant part of life. The developments in information and communication technologies (ICT) and their subsequent absorption in library and information science (LIS) have forced information professionals to change the way they are functioning at present. So, the Primary Aim of this study was to investigate computer competency and information technology literacy skills of the students of M.L.I.Sc. Another aim was to compare the level of computer competency and information technology literacy skills that student had when they enrolled in B.L.I.Sc. and when they completed B.L.I.Sc. Computer Competency and Information Technology Literacy In the present study, computer competency and information technology literacy can be determined as a person ability to deal with computer related skills. These skills comprise of basic computer skills, word processing skills, spreadsheet sills, database skills, presentation skills, networking skills, information retrieval skills. Perception Perception was the process of acquiring, interpreting, selecting, and organizing sensory information. Objectives of the Study 1. To study the computer competency and information technology literacy of M.L.I.Sc. students when they enrolled in B.L.I.Sc. and when they completed B.L.I.Sc. (as perceived by themselves) 2. There will be no significant difference in the computer Competency and Information literacy of male M.L.I.Sc. students and female M.L.I.Sc. students when they enrolled in B.L.I.Sc. (as perceived by themselves) 2. There will be no significant difference in the computer Competency and Information literacy of male M.L.I.Sc. students and female M.L.I.Sc. students when they completed in B.L.I.Sc. (as perceived by themselves) 3. There will be no significant difference in the computer Competency and Information literacy of M.L.I.Sc. students when they enrolled in B.L.I.Sc. and when completed of B.L.I.Sc. (as perceived by themselves) Methodology of the Study Methodology comprises of type of research, description of tool, sampling techniques, source of the data, and analysis techniques. The present study is survey method of descriptive type research. Tool: It contains 62 questions. Survey instrument comprises of seven areas. These are (a) basic computer skills, (b) word processing skills, (c) spreadsheet skills, (d) database skills, (e) presentation skills, (f) networking skills, and (g) information retrieval/telecommunications. It is 5-point scale i.e., very low (1), low (2) , medium (3), high (4), and very high (5). Sample: Population of the study is the students of M.L.I.Sc. of various university department of Gujarat state. The sample comprises of 50 M.L.I.Sc. students. Cluster sampling technique has been employed for the present study. The sample comprises of 24 male students and 26 female students.
