Prof.)* Professor C.L.L. Jayaprada** __________________________________________________________ ABSTRACT This is a review paper which examines the what, why and requirements of inclusive education so as to raise the awareness of teachers on how to address the needs of learners in English language teaching settings. Various sources from empirical studies and UNESCO documents were used as inputs to deal with conceptual and pedagogical aspects. To make inclusive teaching effective in the context of ELT, the appropriate and workable strategies were also suggested in the review. Other strategies could also be suggested depending on the degree and development of inclusive education in light of disabilities as addressed in the program. But these strategies could be employed if teachers get training about Special Needs Education and Inclusive Education other than the subject (Engllish language) they teach.
