Plants were grown under four test conditions: controlled, SCB fertilized, Cd-Pb treated, and Cd-Pb with SCB liquid fertilizer. Photosynthetic parameters such as photosynthetic rate, stomatal conductance, and transpiration rate of Cd-and Pb-treated seedlings showed lower values than those of the seedlings under the controlled condition. Higher content of photosynthetic pigment was observed in the leaves of SCB-applied seedlings with and without Cd and Pb treatments. In addition, the SCB fertilization enhanced the growth and above ground dry matter yield of P. alba x glandulosa grown in Cd-Pb treated soil. The results showed positive effect of SCB fertilization of Cd uptake and phytoextraction potential for Cd of P. alba x glandulosa, but not with Pb which was considered less mobile in soil.
