Necmettin Tekin 2 Murat Selçuk 3 Mesut Çevik 4 Preservation in various diluents of Turkey Semen at 4°C Summary The aim of this research was to investigate the effeets on sperm motility and semen pH various diluent during the short -term preservation of turkey semen. During the researeh, semen was colleeted from turkeys hy manual massage method twiee a week, the spermatological parameters of samples which were colleeted from turkeys were assessed and ejeculate volume (ml), sperm motility (%), sperm concentration (xJ0 9 Iml), the percentage of abnormal sperm and semen pH were recorded as averaged O.24:HJ.02, 75.22r/.90. 5.36:HJ.42, 8. 29:HJ.65, 7.87:HJ.04 respectively. Dilwed Semell with S-2. Ringer, Avian, FTS and skinuned milk was stored at 4 oC. Sperm mottlty ofsemen held at 4 Oc after 7 hours was averaged 29.0:t5.26, 4/.0:1:1.8, 7.0fl.7/. 32.5:t5.01, 2.0:1:/./1 resp. Nevertheless the motzlty of undiluted semen (control group) was found 6.0HJ.0 at the and of this time. pH values of semen held 4 Oc after 7 hours were reeorded as averaged 7.45:HJ.09, 6.37:HJ.05, 7.2/:HJ.21, 6.46:HJ.OB,6.43:HJ.05for diluted semen with S-2 , Ringer, Avian, FTS and skimmed milk respectively and 7.47:HJ.OBfor undiluted semen. With this study, it was eonduded that Ringer diluent was superior to the other diluents.
