Abstract
Sexual abuse appears to constitute a major risk factor for a variety of
problems in adult life. The effects of abuse on adult living are not
uniform therefore intervention strategies should be individualized to
address unique symptom constellations. The purpose of this paper is
to introduce an integrated Ericksonian and Ego state therapy approach,
based on a strengths perspective for the treatment of survivors of child-
hood sexual abuse. The theoretical foundation for this model is de-
scribed, followed by a case study. The case study demonstrates how
application of this model enabled the client to resolve the experience of
sexual abuse, as well as to enhance her sense of general psychological
well-being.
