Conclusion Introduction Objectives The issue of destiny and purpose is fundamental primarily because it is a pillar of life, the basis for meaning and value of it. The formative stage of being in a tertiary institution shapes many aspects of one’s life and to a larger extent determine the course of it in the future based on the actions and decisions one takes. I t is here that one gets to: 1. Align their belief and value system , 2. Embed principles and structures that will to a large extent govern their future lives. It is therefore critical for there to be a cl ear understanding of destiny and purpose, if management of human life is to be done in a conscious, deliberate and strategic manner . Let’s start by looking at some dictionary (most widely accepted) definitions just to get and understanding of the philosophy behind peoples understanding of purpose and destiny. Definitions (Dictionary) 1. Destiny a. An event (or a course of events) that will inevitably happen in the future . (Implies actuality of fate and is based on the fact that chance is a real and definite.) b. The ultimate agency regarded as predetermining the course of events . (Emphasis on the recognition of a superior force managing life.) c. Your overall circumstances or condition in life . Human construct (psychology, belief) tends to want to have a basis on which most (if not all) circumstance and events of life can be ascribed to. The recognition of this “force” is what differs from one human to another, and determines their understanding of destiny. 2. Purpose a. An anticipated outcome that is intended or that guides your planned actions . b. What something is used for. c. The quality of being determined to do or achieve something; firmness of purpose .
