HEZBOLLA (HIZBALLAH) It’s a shia Islamic organization located in Lebanon predominating in three areas: the South, Beirut which is the capital and the northern Beqaa valley REASONS OF EMERGENCE: There are 4 important elements that determine its emergence, the first one is the IDENTITY CRISIS AND PERSECUTION: These happened since 1943 When Lebanon became an independent state, at that moment there were 3 political forces in the country: the suniies, the manorites and the most marginalized who were the shiia group, they had the feeling of being despised by the government STRUCTURAL IMBALANCE There were an inequitative proportion of political representativity in the Lebanese parliament compared to the population where shia community increased more than sunnies and manorites together, this leaded to a huge number of Shiites living in poverty, creating belts of misery around the areas where nowadays are part of the hezbolla territory. MILITARY DEFEAT: In 1982 the Israelies decided to occupy the south area of Lebanon with the intentions of removing any kind of relation between his neighbor and the PLO as well as the Sirian clout, their actions legitimated hezbolla’s movement and gave them a cause to fight for, due to the killing of thousands of civilians chiites the group quickly accelerated their presence in beirut and Beqaa. DEMONSTRATION EFFECT After Iran`s revolution the ayatollah Khomeini became a regional ideological leader of the Shiites and his message went right into hezbolla leaders which also were clerics. CREATION After all this facts in 1985 the term hezbolla was officially used to define multiple Shiites groups easily identified for being the main political-militar force of shia community in Lebanon.
