RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN KNOWLEDGE OF MOTHERS ON THE DANGER OF SATURATED FAT FOR THE BODY AND HABITIN USING COOKING OIL AT JANTI CATURTUNGGAL DEPOK SLEMAN Gabriel Fesonta Febri 1 , Wahyu Ratna 2 , Siti Fadlilah 3 ABSTRACT Background: To achieve good nutrition status in the family requires good and proper knowledge, ability and behavior toward nutrition of every member of the family. Good and proper behavior toward nutrition means consuming food at adequate quantity as necessary, either in aspect of variety or quality. Objective: To identify association between knowledge of mothers on the danger of saturated fat for the body and habit in using cooking oil at Janti, Caturtunggal, Depok, Sleman. Method: The study was descriptive correlation. Population consisted of 776 respondents and samples were taken through proportionate stratified random sampling technique; thus there were 89 respondents used as samples based on sample size formula. The study was undertaken at Janti, Caturtunggal, Depok, Sleman. Results: As many as 73 respondents (82%) had high knowledge and 55 respondents (61.8%) had medium habit. The result of cross tabulation to find out association between knowledge of mothers and habit in using cooking oil at Janti, Caturtunggal, Depok, Sleman showed score of r = 0.147 and p value = 0.169. Conclusion and Suggestion: There was no association between knowledge of mothers on the danger of saturated fat for the body and habit in using cooking oil at Janti, Caturtunggal, Depok, Sleman. Janti community should not use cooking oil repeatedly and community nurses should support efforts to maintain public health, educational institution should use result of the study for learning materials, other researchers could find out other factors in the habit of using cooking oil.
