CONTRIBUTIONS TO SCIENCE.  Rizal found Mindanao a rich virgin field for collecting specimens ( insects,birds, snakes, lizards, frogs, shells, plants)  Collections of 346 shells representing 203 species.  Rare species he discovered : o “ DRACO RIZALI” (flying dragon), o “ APOGONIA RIZALI “ (small beetle) , o “ RHACOPHORUS RIZALI “ (rare frog).  Sent these specimens to Dresden Museum in Europe and in exchange, sent Rizal scientific books and surgical instruments.
