Fax (031)8782087.e-mail : Wisnh@upnjatim.ac.id ABSTRAK Penelitian pengolahan air limbah domestik dengan proses lahan basah buatan yang menggunakan tanaman air Cattail (Typha Angustifolia) telah dilakukan dalam skala laboratorium.Penelitian ini bertujuan mengetahui tingkat efisiensi penurunan kadar Chemical Oxygen Demand (COD), Biological Oxygen Demand (BOD) dan kadar Total Suspended Solid (TSS) yang terkandung dalam limbah cair domestik setelah melalui Constructed Wetland, Pengaruh dan potensi tanaman telah dipelajari melalui pengamatan efisiensi pengolahan air limbah dan juga efeknya terhadap kualitas tanah. Hasil percobaan menunjukkan bahwa dengan menggunakan tanaman Cattail (Typha Angustifolia) dalam sistem lahan basah buatan pengolahan air limbah domestik dapat penyisihan kandungan pencemar dalam air limbah dengan waktu tinggal 3 sampai dengan 15 hari, efisiensi penyisihan COD 77,6% - 91,8%, BOD 47,4% – 91,6% dan TSS 33,3% – 83,3%. Keunggulan pengolahan air limbah dengan sistem ini selain kualitas hasil air pengolahan yang sesuai baku mutu air limbah domestik juga dapat meningkatkan kualitas tanah. Kata kunci : Efisiensi Pengolahan, Limbah domestik, Tanaman Cattail ABSTRACT Research on the domestic effluent treatment by the the constructed wetland system processi using water plant Cattail (Typha Angustifolia) was conducted. Experiment was carried out in a laboratory scale to study the influence of plant on the treatment efficiency of waste water.This study aims to determine the level of efficiency decreased levels of Chemical Oxygen Demand (COD), Biological Oxygen Demand (BOD) and the levels of Total Suspended Solid (TSS) contained in Domestic effluent after constructed wetland process.The potency of plant in the constructed wetland system was also studied both the effects on the land quality and the plant yields. The experiment results showed treatment by the constructed wetland system process using Cattail (Typha Angustifolia) plant can the removal pollutant in waste water. At the retention time 3 until 15 day, can removal of COD 77,6% - 91,8%, BOD 47,4% – 91,6% dan TSS 33,3% – 83,3%. The treatment system, can also improve water quality who adjustment with standard quality the domestic effluent and can also increase the land quality.
