ZULRASHAM BIN RAHMAT 1310071 IKHLAS Ikhlas means “there is nothing which has the right to ibadah except Allah” in that your ibadah should be exclusively and sincerely to Allah. Iman alone does not met the right quality in our ibadah to be accepted by Allah. It is important that Iman should be completed with ikhlas to Him so that our actions will not be associated other than Allah alone. There are also others meaning of ikhlas that are useful in our daily life, Allah says: (They have been ordered no more than this: To worship Allah sincerely, being true (in faith), to establish the prayer, and to give zakah. And that is the worthy religion ) (Al-Bayyinah 98: 5). The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) also said, “Allah is Pure and He accepts only that which is pure” and “He accepts only that which is pure and done solely for His sake alone!” Imam Fudhayl ibn `Iyad said, “All good deeds, in order to be acceptable in Shari`ah, must satisfy two essential prerequisites. First, they must be approved or sanctioned by Allah; second, they must be done with the pure intention of earning the pleasure of Allah .” For a person to be ikhlas in all his actions in daily life, he needs to avoid or get rid off from his heart two things, ostentatious and shirk (associating partners with Allah). Ostentatious is abandons an act because of people and shirk will happen if he or she do something because of people. Therefore, ikhlas needs to be free from those two elements. I also conducted a survey among my colleagues regarding the relationship of daily good deeds and their feelings afterward it. The title of the survey was “The feeling after doing a good deed?”. There are total of 20 respondents and the responses given are happy, calm and none. The results are as follows.
