Clotrimazole and Tinidazole show absorption maxima at 261 and 278 nm in 0.1 N HCl as solvent. The first method developed employs formation and solving simultaneous equations using 261 and 278 nm as two wavelengths for the formation of equations. Second method is absorbance ratio method in which wavelengths selected were 365 nm as a iso-absortive point and 278 nm as Ȝ max of Tinidazole. Linearity was observed in the concentration range of 5-25 ȝg/ml for both the drugs. The recovery studies ascertained the accuracy of the proposed method and the results were validated as per ICH guidelines. The procedures were successfully applied for the simultaneous determination of both drugs in laboratory prepared mixtures and in commercial dosage forms.
