Kahle and Federico Pérez Castro kept at the Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Científicas (csic) * Elvira Martín-ContrEras, Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Científicas (ilc), Madrid the friendship and scientific collaboration between Professors Federico Pérez castro and Paul e. Kahle began in 1950 when Pérez castro travelled to oxford. after that first meeting, Kahle sent Pérez castro photocopies of the san Petersburg and cairo manuscripts to be used in the project Biblia Poliglota. 1 until Kahle’s death fourteen years later, their interchange of ideas and materials continued. 2 a series of unedited letters between Pérez castro and Kahle and his sons are kept in the archive of the former Benito arias Montano institute at the CsiC, Madrid. they cover the period 23 july 1959 to 19 april 1967. the documents/letters held in Madrid are not important in terms of their number: 3 sixteen letters in total. instead, they are a few of the letters that attest to the friendship and scientific collaboration between Kahle and Pérez castro. 1.
