GREEN: RACE TO COMPETE OR IMAGINATION
TO RIOT : A REVIEW IN INDIAN PERSPECTIVE

Abstract
Purpose: A literature review of Indian news paper, magazines, and national policy documents on the
current views of effective local climate action was done. This review paper aims to bring about the
steps being taken by Government of India and big MNC in wake of Climate change. India being a
country of more than a billion people, creating awareness would be pathbreaking.
Design/Methodology/approach : The paper reviews a range of publications which describe the facts of
Climate change, Global warming and the steps being taken by different agencies.The policy statement
has been taken from the official site of the environment ministry.
Findings : The paper argues that local climate action is important and every individual can play its
role in reducing the carbon emission. Government policies and role of MNCs could provide effective
avenues to step-up local climate action.
Practical Implications: The avenues identified to scale-up individual action on climate change could
be readily utilised by every individual who in turn will help to augment the cause of decreasing the
carbon emission.
