ABSTRACT
A good option to optimum utilize of agricultural production and marketing, making the competitiveness in agricul-
ture sector and an being active presence in global markets is development of greenhouse operation which this
issue requires a good understanding of the major obstacles to effective entrepreneurship development in these
units. This study examines the barriers affecting entrepreneurship development from the perspective of green-
house owners in Varamin city. This is an applied study and its method is correlation and main research tool is
questionnaire. The statistical population of the study is all greenhouse owners of Varamin city (N=450) which ac-
cording to Cochran formula, 180 subjects using simple random sampling method were selected. Data were ana-
lyzed using the SPSS17 software. In order to identify the obstacles to the development of entrepreneurship from
the perspective of greenhouse owners in Varamin city, exploratory factor analysis was used. Results showed that
nine factors including economic, political, cultural, finances, marketing, psychological, social, technical and training
factors explained about 71.7% of variance obstacles of entrepreneurship development.

INTRODUCTION
Good option to optimum utilize of agricultural produc-
tion and marketing, making the competitiveness in
agriculture sector and an being active presence in
global markets is development of greenhouse opera-
tion which this issue requires a good understanding of
the major obstacles to effective entrepreneurship de-
velopment in these units (Daneshvar,2005). Develop-
ment of greenhouse units to make the agricultural sec-
tor competitive and its development can be very useful
indeed (Ghonchi et al., 2011). However, the develop-
ment of greenhouse production occurs when it is en-
trepreneurial in nature. But the development of entre-
preneurial activities in the greenhouse production
units and the use of existing capacity to develop
greenhouse cultivation require a good understanding
of the constraints affecting the entrepreneurship di-
mensions of these units (Rahmani et al., 2011).
However, in most of the world, a lot of researches on
barriers affecting entrepreneurship behavior have
been conducted, but in Iran, not enough attention is
paid to this issue. The situation in the entrepreneurial
activities of agricultural sector is much more pro-
nounced.
Alidoust et al (2012) have classified three categories of
barriers to entrepreneurship, including cultural barri-
ers, social barriers and economic barriers.
Based on the results, Ali Mirzaei et al (2011) classified
agreed-upon inhibitors in the following four factors:
manufacturing, marketing, category management and
policy making that a total of 53.94% of the total vari-
ance was explained by the variables.
In a study entitled "Analysis of inhibiting factors in the
development of greenhouse units, case study: Varamin
city", Ghonchi et.al (2010) found that parameters such
as economic factors, engineering and technology, pro-
fessional and individual and infrastructural and sup-
portive characteristics of the government are the ma-
jor factors inhibiting the development of these green-
house units.
In a study done by Nawaser et al (2011) over 1,840
people from the work force in Finland, it indicates that
evidence in the literature suggests that government
regulation not only does not provide the right context
to productive and entrepreneurial activities, but also
these rules acts as an obstacle to the development of
entrepreneurship and as a result lack of the growth
and development of the economy.
Juhany (2010) also introduces cases such as lack of
trained manpower and lack of effective managers, lack
of equipment and technologies, limitations in qualita-
tive data and studying weaknesses are the issues facing
the UAE entrepreneurs.
Also, research results of Tambunan (2009) in Indonesia
suggest that lack of capital, high input prices, high la-
bor costs, lack of appropriate technology and lack of
