X CONFERENCIA REGIONAL LATINOAMERICANA Y III CONFERENCIA REGIONAL PANAMERICANA DE EDUCACIÓN MUSICAL, ISME - INTERNATIONAL SOCIETY FOR MUSIC EDUCATION RELATIONS BETWEEN TITLE AND MUSICAL DISCOURSE: PRELIMINARY RESULTS OF A STUDY ON MUSIC APPRECIATION Leonardo Vieira Feichas Universidade Federal do Acre leonardofeichas@hotmail.com Elder Gomes da Silva Universidade Federal do Acre elder_trp@hotmail.com ABSTRACT In this paper we present a study on the relations between title and musical discourse in the 26 Prelúdios Característicos e Concertantes para Violino Só by the Brazilian composer Flausino Valle (1894-1954). 18 students of an undergraduate degree in music took part in an experiment in which they should associate the title to the musical work appreciated. For data analysis we proposed a accuracy index for the exact correlation between the music performed and the response of participants and a modal concordance index considering the frequently responses among participants. Data were subjected to Student's t-test and a repeated measures ANOVA followed by a post hoc Newman-Keuls. Our results suggests the existence of gaps in the relations between title and musical discourse, demanding the creation of approaches to music education that consider the role of appreciation in the syllabus, the need for a conceptual appreciation of works that consider formal and expressive features of music and finally the improvement of strategies used in musical performance to reach the effective communication between composer, performer and listener. Keywords: musical appreciation; musical discourse; performance. Nossos resultados sugerem a existência
