Camuffo With 3 Figures Received November 3, 1977 Summary The general trend of cumulated frequency distribution of daily global radiation falling on an horizontal plane at Venice, Italy, has been discussed on the basis of routinely collected data over a six year period. The fractile diagram is plotted both in arithmetic and in logarithmic probability paper. In the first representation a sigmoid is obtained. The three parts in which the sigmoid can be subdivided are individually characterized by seasonal climatological and astronomical factors. In the second representation, the distribution of in ten si ties up to 400 cal cm- 2 day-I appear to be approximated by a lognormal equation. Due to the small value of the standard deviation, the highest intensities seem to be evaluated with both a normal and a lognormal distribution. Zusammenfassung Kumulative Hiiufigkeitsverteilung der tiiglichen Globalstrahlung in Venedig, Italien AufGrund von sechsjiihrigen Beobachtungswerten wird die allgemeine Form der kumu- lativen Hiiufigkeitsverteilung der in Venedig auf eine horizontale Ebene einfallenden tiiglichen Globalstrahlung besprochen. Das Hiiufigkeitsdiagramm wird auf arithmetischen und logarithmischen Wahrscheinlichkeitspapieren dargestellt. In der ersteren Darstellung wird eine S-fOrmige Form erhalten. Die drei Teile, in die diese Kurve unterteilt werden kann, sind individuell durch jahreszeitliche klimatologische und.astronomische Faktoren charakterisiert. In der zweiten Darstellung kann die Verteilungsfunktion der Intensitiiten bis zu 400 cal"cm- 2 Tag- 1 durch eine logarithmische Normalverteilung approximiert' werden.
