De início, é apresentado um breve histórico acerca do surgimento da etnografia e de seus “pais fundadores”, para a apresentação da conceituação clássica da etnografia, do seu objeto de estudo e da forma de condução desta modalidade de pesquisa científica. Busca-se, também, explorar a utilização da pesquisa etnográfica no campo das ciências jurídicas, por meio de um levantamento informal do uso deste método nos artigos disponibilizados na base “Scielo.br”, bem como nas publicações dos eventos do CONPEDI - Conselho Nacional de Pesquisa e Pós-graduação em Direito, demonstrando a total pertinência desse método de pesquisa às ciências jurídicas. Por fim, apresenta-se a possibilidade de uso deste método entre os alunos do Mestrado em Direitos Humanos da Universidade Tiradentes. ABSTRACT This study aims to demonstrate the feasibility and relevance of using ethnography as a research methodology for academic productions related to legal sciences. First, we present a brief history of the emergence of ethnography and its "founding fathers". Then we begin to present the classical concept of ethnography, the object of study and the way of conducting this type of scientific research. Also we explore the use of ethnographic research on the field of legal sciences, through an informal survey about the use of this method in articles available on the "Scielo.br" database, as well as the publications of the CONPEDI - ConselhoNacional de Pesquisa e Pós-graduaçãoemDireito - events, demonstrating the overall relevance of this research method for the legal sciences. Finally, we present the possibility of the students of the Masters Program in Human Rights from the Tiradentes University use this method. Key words: Ethnography; Legal Sciences; Research Methodology.
