11 Resumen El presente trabajo reúne las características más importantes del Qhapaq Ñan, ca- mino inca de vital importancia para toda la región sudamericana. Se reúne la in- formación sobre sus funciones astronómicas, agrícolas y culturales. Asimismo, se realiza una breve reseña histórica sobre la declaratoria de este camino como Patri- monio Cultural de la Humanidad. Finalmente, se señala la importancia del Qhapaq Ñan para la integración latinoamericana y se resaltan los logros de los proyectos transnacionales en la región. Palabras clave Ecuador, Patrimonio de la Humanidad, Qhapaq Ñan, turismo Abstract This paper brings together the most important characteristics of the Qhapaq Nan, a very important historical heritage for the entire South American región and the World. Notes about his astronomical, agricultural and cultural functions are com- piled. Likewise, a brief historical overview of the declaration of this Inka trail as a cultural heritage site is made. Finally the importance of the Qhapaq Ñan for Latin American integration is highlighted, considering the achievements of transnational projects in the region.
