Academic English 14 December 2015 Analyzing Code-mixing Used by Performers in Humor Situation on Ini talk show Program in 22 October 2015 Abstract In the communication process people not only transfer the idea or information to other people but also look at some aspects in delivering that information, such as culture or background of the speaker or the hearer. In that communication process code-mixing can be found in multilingual society such as Indonesia. The societies will understand and use more than one language, it tends to mix and use those languages together. The aim of this paper was to describe the kinds of code-mixing used by the performers in Ini talk show program in NET TV. To get the data the writer observed that program, then described what kinds of those code-mixing. Based on the result, it was found that, there were two kinds of code-mixing used by performers in Ini talk show program. Those codes-mixing are inner code-mixing and outer code-mixing. In inner code-mixing there were some elements of code such as Informal Indonesian, Javanese code, Sundanese code, Betawi code and Tegal Javanese code. In outer code- mixing those elements of code are English code and Arabic code. Key Words: Multilingual society, code-mixing, inner code-mixing, outer code-mixing. Introduction As stated by De Saussure (1916) language is not only an abstract system in mind (langage) but also has existence as an utterance (parole). This utterance is used in communication process to deliver information or idea from speaker to hearer. Moreover, the understanding of the communication process between speaker and hearer will make the communication process be effective and successful. Besides, the understanding between the speaker and the hearer in communication process is also needed some aspects such as; with whom the speaker say, the custom of the speaker and the hearer, and condition around the communication
