Email address: ase.sun86@gmail.com Abstract This study is aimed to help students at SMAN 2 Pamekasan to have more opportunities to practice reading skills and also to help teachers in providing an appropriate materials. The procedures was employed in this study were R&D (Research and Development). The researcher used guided questionnaire for 65 students, interview for teachers, a checklist form and suggestions for expert validations. The submitted product of the research is a student book for which items were arranged according to the topics selected based on basic competence in curriculum 2013, particularly for reading skill. In addition, these materials were completed with an attractive picture and interesting models of learning that refers to contextual teaching learning (CTL). Finally, the researcher suggests that the teacher can use the supplementary materials to help teachers in providing the materials related to students needs and problems in reading. In addition, it is suggested for further researchers to develop the material for all grades. Key words: Development, reading material, Curriculum 2013 The development of English teaching in Indonesia has been developed along the development of curriculum. Richards (2001:2) state that “language curriculum development refers to the field of applied linguistics that addresses these issues. It describes an interrelated set of process that focuses on designing, revising, implementing, and evaluating language programs”. Meanwhile, “curriculum is a set of plan and rules of the objectives, content, material and the technique used as a manual of teaching activities to achieve the educational objectives”. (Decree of educational ministry number 69 year 2013). Furthermore, Indonesia had been changing the educational curriculum for several times. The change of the curriculum was as a sequence of the development of science and technology in this globalization era, besides it was as a mandate from the law of national education system. The recent curriculum in Indonesia named curriculum 2013. In addition, the teachers play important role in applying the curriculum, the teachers must be able to implement the curriculum in order to achieve the objectives of education. Besides, teaching material is another important factor in most language teaching. Unfortunately, teachers often think of themselves as being depend on materials writers and they often do not believe that they are capable of writing good materials themselves. In addition, in learning English, there are four skills that have to be mastered by the students, those are reading, writing, speaking and listening. From the four skills, reading is considered as the most important one. This research produces supplementary English Reading materials for the first Grade Students of SMAN 2 Pamekasan.
