ESPAÑA. mpoblete@uniovi.es RESUMEN: Se elabora un itinerario pedagógico por los principales lugares de interés geológico (LIG) del Campo de Calatrava, con el objetivo de divulgar a la sociedad y a la comunidad educativa el elevado valor científico y paisajístico de su patrimonio volcánico. En concreto, el Campo de Calatrava es la zona de mayor interés geomorfológico de la Región Volcánica Central de España, merced a la variedad de formas y tipologías de volcanes, en especial, por la abundancia de maares o cráteres de explosión. En efecto, el recorrido muestra la diversidad de geoformas y su potencial didáctico, destacando los diversos tipos de volcanes, en concreto, cinder cones, domos extrusivos y maares; así como encostramientos ferruginosos pleistocenos, yacimientos paleontológicos e incluso manantiales termales conocidos popularmente como hervideros. El itinerario se desarrolla alrededor de la Sierra de Medias Lunas, esto es, cerca de Ciudad Real capital y Valverde de Calatrava, conmemorando así el centenario de la primera expedición efectuada por Eduardo Hernández Pacheco y sus discípulos, Gómez de Llanera y Royo Gómez, al Campo de Calatrava; lo que supuso el respaldo definitivo para su reconocimiento científico. En definitiva, el Campo de Calatrava es el verdadero museo natural de las formas volcánicas que debemos cuidar y preservar para las futuras generaciones y su valor didáctico lo convierte en una indiscutible escuela volcánica. ABSTRACT: A pedagogical itinerary by major geosites of the Campo de Calatrava is carried out in order to disseminate to society and to the educational community the high scientific and landscape value of its geovolcanic heritage. Specifically, the Campo de Calatrava is the area of greatest geomorphological interest due to its variety of landforms and types of volcanoes, especially for the abundance of maars or explosion craters. Indeed, the route shows the diversity of landforms and their educational potential, highlighting the different types of volcanoes such as cinder cones, extrusive domes and maars. There are also Pleistocene ferruginous encrustations (glacis crusts, terrace crusts, etc.), paleontological sites and hot springs. The route goes around the Medias Lunas Ridge near Ciudad Real and Valverde de Calatrava, to commemorate the centenary of the first expedition carried out by Eduardo Hernández-Pacheco and his disciples at Campo de Calatrava, which marked the final backing for its scientific recognition. In short, the Campo de Calatrava Volcanic Field is the true natural museum of volcanic landforms we must care for and preserve for future generations and its educational value makes it the undisputed volcanic school.
