Chemical Reactor Dynamics: Stability of Steady States C. Chicone ∗ Y. Latushkin † D. G. Retzloff ‡ April 21, 2015 Abstract The equations describing the dynamics and steady states of a tubu- lar reactor are studied in the region where an arbitrarily number of steady state solutions exist. The stability of these solutions is ex- amined and their persistence for increases in the parameter values is determined. The physical implications of these solutions are exam- ined. Keywords. chemical reactors, plug flow reactors, multiple steady states, bifurcations, stability AMS(MOS) subject classification. 34B15, 34C23, 92E20 * Department of Mathematics, University of Missouri, Columbia, MO 65211.
