Notes on similar genera are given. During studies of microfungi from Cuba an interesting hyphomycete was collected from decaying submerged leaves of Terminalia cattapa. The fungus was obtained in pure culture and a careful examination of its morphological characteristics showed remarkable differences from previously described hyphomycetes ; it is described as a new genus. Coloniae effusae, brunneae. Mycelium partim superficiale et partim in substrato immersum. Conidiophora macronematosa, mononematosa, septata, brunnea vel olivacea. Cellulae conidiogenae polytreticae, simultaneae, terminales, cum minutis poris manifestis praeditae. Conidia cylindrica, fusiformia usque obclavata, septata, brunea, laevia vel verrucosa, non catenata. Teleomorphosis ignota. Species typica : Enridescalsia speciosa R. F. Castan eda & Guarro. Conidial fungi, hyphomycetes. Colonies spreading, brown. Mycelium superficial and immersed. Conidiophores differentated, mononematous, septate, brown to olivaceous. Conidiogenous cells polytretic, synchronous, terminal, with small but con- spicuous pores. Conidia cylindrical, fusiform to obclavate, septate, brown, smooth or verrucose, not in chains. Mycelium partim superficiale et partim in substrato immersum. Hyphae septatae, ramosae, leaves, brunneae, 2–3 μm diam. Conidiophora macronematosa, mononematosa, cylindrica, 5–9-septata, plerumque prostrata interdum erecta, recta vel fluxuosa, non ramosa, 240–8503–6 μm, laevia, brunnea vel olivacea. Cellulae conidiogenae polytreticae, simultaneae, inflatae plus minusve capitatae, 16–3510–15 μm, terminales, determinatae, brunneae, cum 6–10 minutis poris, 05 μm diam., manifestis praeditae. Conidia cylindrica, fusiformia usque obclavata, constricta ad septa, moniliformia, rotundata ad apicem, truncata, attenuata, interdum leviter uncinata ad basim, 175–27517–22 μm, 7–10-septata, brunnea, laevia, non catenata. Colonies spreading, amphi- genous, brown. Mycelium superficial and immersed. Hyphae septate, branched, smooth-walled, brown, 2–3 μm wide. Conidiophores differentiated, mononematous, cylindrical, 5–9- septate, mostly prostrate, but sometimes erect, straight or flexuous, unbranched, 240–8503–6 μm, smooth, brown to olivaceous. Conidiogenous cells polytretic, synchronous, inflated, more or less capitate, 16–3510–15 μm, terminal, deter- minate, brown, with 6–10, small but conspicuous pores, 05 μm diam. Conidia cylindrical, fusiform to obclavate, 7–10- septate, constricted at septa and appearing moniliform, rounded at the apex, tapered and sometimes slightly hooked at the base, 175–27517–22 μm, brown, smooth-walled, not in chains. Teleomorph unknown. Colonies on corn meal agar (Difco) supplemented with 5 g malt extract (Merck) at 25 C attaining 22–28 mm diam. in 10 d, olivaceous to brown, aerial mycelium velvety, with indeterminate margin. Hyphae pale brown, smooth-walled, 15–30 μm wide. Conidiophores differentiated, mononematous, 200–4006–9 μm, cylindrical, pale brown to brown, smooth. Conidiogenous cells polytretic, sychronous, inflated, brown, 22–4075–85 μm, with 2–7 small but Mycol.
