Abstract
A list of Cerambycidae species from three municipalities of central Bahia (Milagres, Maracás and Iaçu) is presented. A
total of 108 species are registered, 17 of which are new geographical records for the state, are listed, including two new
species of Aerenicini (Lamiinae), Suipinima flavumtuberculata sp. nov. and Aereniphaula bandana sp. nov. which are
described and illustrated. A key to the species of Suipinima and taxonomic notes on Suipinima eccentrica (Galileo & Mar-
tins, 1992) are provided.
Key words: Aerenicini, Brazilian semi-arid, longhorn, new records
1992).

Introduction
The Brazilian semi-arid region covers almost the entire northeastern Brazil and is mainly characterized by having
high temperatures, few and irregular rainy seasons and vegetation consisting of tree or shrub forests adapted to this
biome called Caatinga (Prado, 2003). Several areas of Caatinga undergo desertification processes, so studies of its
fauna and flora are extremely important for management and protection actions (Zanella & Martins, 2003)
In recent years, the “Programa de Pesquisa em Biodiversidade-semiárido (PPBio/semiárido MCTI/CNPq)” has
increased the knowledge of Cerambycidae fauna in the Brazilian semi-arid (e.g. Menezes et al., 2012; Galileo et al,
2014; Nascimento & Bravo 2014, 2015; Martins et al. 2015). However, some areas considered to be of extreme
biological importance still lack studies.
Concerning the cerambycid species of Bahia’s semi-arid region, two new species were recently described,
Bothriospila pulcherrima Martins & Galileo 2012 and Desmiphora (Desmiphora) nascimentoi Martins et al. 2015,
from the regions of Maracas and Miracles, respectively. The list of cerambycids from the municipalities of
Milagres, Maracás, and Iaçu, in central Bahia, are presented with new geographical records for the state. Two new
species are described in Aerenicini with a key for Suipinima, and taxonomic comments on Suipinima eccentrica
(Galileo & Martins, 1992) are given. With this study, we broaden the knowledge of this fauna in the region.
