Although, popularity of coping concept use in daily base of clinical nursing practice, there is a lack of clarity over its precise meaning and use. The aim of this paper is to evaluate the level of maturity of “coping” concept by using criteria for concept maturity evaluation that is used by Morse and colleagues. The literature was used as data for clarification of coping concept. Studies from accessible database: Pub med, CIHNAL, Google Scholar journals, using the key words “Coping”, “Cope”. The search was limited to the period 1990-2015 and to the written in English, full text articles. Additional related references in the articles were searched during reading the literature. The evaluation of the coping concept maturity level revealed that despite the fact that coping is a concept that commonly used in both everyday nursing practice and research, many aspects of the concept have been inadequately explicated. Throughout this analysis many questions for future research have been raised; especially with inconsistencies between the theoretical and the clinical literature, which raise the need for further qualitative enquiry about coping personal meaning and coping strategies assessment. Keywords: Coping; Psychometric properties of coping; Conceptualization of coping behavior; Dimensions of coping.
